Dream Team Saves Tiny Kitten That Was Trapped Underground And Almost Washed Away By Sewage

This poor little kitty was trapped underground and almost washed away by sewage, but thankfully a “Dream Team” of rescuers were able to save the day for this little kitty cat! The “Dream Team” then went on to name the cute cat Echo, but the parents of the cat have since renamed Echo to Gremlin after his incredibly difficult experience.

The 10-week-old stray kitten from Arizona was stuck in a rather wet, cold, and completely dark pipe below the ground. Shockingly, it was very close to a sewage line, and the chances of escaping by itself were negligible. However, a team saved the cat and brought it to a loving home.

This team was unlikely, as it consisted of men from 3G Plumbing, rangers from the Safford Fire Department, and the Desert Cat Rescue and Sanctuary of Arizona. All of them came together to rescue the little kitten from the pipe in Safford, Arizona. However, it wasn’t an easy task.

It all began with two college friends hearing the “echo” of a cat’s meowing in the house where they lived around 8:00 am in the morning on Friday. A few months ago, the students had also adopted a cat from the Desert Cat Rescue and Sanctuary of Arizona. Therefore, the students thought that they would help the poor kitty out.

Their call was received by Cheryl Christensen, the Director of Desert Cat Rescue and Sanctuary of Arizona. She received the call in the afternoon, and upon receiving it, Cheryl rushed and instantly arrived at their place.

Cheryl said, “We all agreed there was a kitty in that wall. We just couldn’t locate it.” Then, they called the Safford Fire Department for help, who arrived within fifteen minutes. One firefighter also brought his family to help them out.

The team was not able to determine where Gremlin entered the walls. But, when they were on the roof, they could hear the cries of a kitten from the ventilation pipes. It took them no time to find an open pipe in the backyard of the empty house next door. The pipe was just the right size for the little kitty to fall inside of so it was no surprise that the cat was found in this predicament.

They called 3G plumbing and their team stuck a camera into the underground pipe to see if they could find the poor scared little kitty. The kitty was five feet underground and only fifteen feet away from the sewage. Cheryl said that the kitty would become drenched whenever someone used the flush on the street. She also said, “There were just so many obstacles and so much danger for the kitten. There was no way for him to get out on his own.”

Regardless, the team planned to bring Gremlin to safety. 3G Plumbing used a plumbing snake to block the exit to the sewage line and also used the camera to poke Gremlin back toward the house. The fire department even removed a toilet to make the exit point more secure for the kttiy. They also played many videos of a mother cat to see if it would help bring Gremlin close to them.

After putting many hours into rescuing this sweet kitty, at 11:12 pm, they saved him. It was an unbelievable team effort.

Chris from 3G Plumbing decided to take Gremlin home. The Desert Cat Rescue had lined up a foster house for the kitten, but it didn’t go as planned because it was too late at night when they rescued him, so Chris took Gremlin to the vet the following day where the kitten got antibiotics and was declared healthy.

What a truly amazing rescue and an even more amazing group of people who took the time out of their day to rescue this poor sweet kitten. Thankfully it all went well and Gremlin was rescued safely and soundly!
